US agribusiness giant Archer Daniels Midland Co (ADM) said on 19 February that it did not expect to restart its sugarcane ethanol plant in Brazil after a seasonal shutdown earlier this year.
The company had been trying to sell the plant in Limeira do Oeste since 2012, Reuters reported.
Through a US regulatory filing last week, ADM said it was still looking at all options.
ADM was also evaluating options for its three US corn ethanol dry mills, which could include a sale, it was reported in January.
In 2015 ADM reported a 44% drop in profits for its corn processing segment – results from the Brazilian ethanol plant were included in this result.
