In Argentina, a cargo ship preparing to load soya meal and corn has collided with a dock at the grain hub of Rosario on the Parana River, damaging parts of the dock infrastructure.
The incident at the port of General San Martin caused a slowdown in the activity the terminal 6, operated by Aceitera General Deheza (AGD) and Bunge, said World Grain on 26 April.
Guillermo Wade, manager of the Argentina Chamber of Port and Maritime Activity, said the southern pier of terminal 6 remained operational but had difficulties on the barge docks due to a blockage caused by Ocean Treasure, the ship that was responsible for the accident.
“The north dock of terminal 6 suffered some serious damage, One operated working in the area suffered a minor blow, but nothing serious,” Wade added.
According to data from the shipping agency NABSA, Ocean Treasure had been preparing to load 27,000 tonnes of soya meal and 24,000 tonnes of corn, reported World Grain.
