Indonesia-based Golden Agri-Resources Ltd (GAR) announced on 10 December that two of its business units – PT Sinar Kencana Inti Perkasa and PT Bumi Sawit Permai – had received Indonesia Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) certification.

“With these latest certifications, GAR closes out 2016 with a total of 30 mills and palm oil estates supplying fresh fruit bunches to the mills that have now been ISPO certified,” GAR said. “This represents the highest number of ISPO certifications awarded in Indonesia for an integrated palm oil company.”

GAR said that in terms of land coverage, 182,296ha were now certified to ISPO as of December 2016.

The ISPO was created in 2011 by the Indonesian government to improve the competitiveness of Indonesian palm oil on the global market and to reduce deforestation and protect the environment.
