UK-based biofuels firm Greenergy has fully acquired Singaporean used cooking oil (UCO) exporter Rexon Energy in an upstream investment to improve raw material sourcing for its biodiesel production operations.
“We have increased our purchasing of UCO from around the world over a number of years and Rexon has become a significant supplier. Our acquisition provides greater integration in this part of our supply chain,” said Greenergy CEO Andrew Owens in a 5 September statement.
Greenergy said it was continuing to expand its manufacturing operations through incremental investment in its facilities in Teesside and Immingham, UK.
On 19 July, the firm also purchased from Dutch company Oiltanking an idle biodiesel manufacturing facility in Amsterdam, which it expected to begin production in 2019.
