Roxas Sigma Agriventures’ Inc (RSAI) has started construction of an integrated coconut processing facility in Tupi, Philippines, and the project is expected to be finished by the end of the year.

The plant would have the capacity to process 200 tonnes/day of coconuts, from which the company would produce coconut products such as virgin coconut oil and coconut cream, mainly for export, according to Cocommunity.

Once completed, Cocommunity said nearly 120,000 coconut farmers in Region X11 would benefit, as there would be a new market for their high quality coconuts. At least 500 workers would also be employed to operate the plant.

RSAI is a joint venture between Roxas & Co and Sigma Xynergies Corporation.
