Global agribusiness ADM plans to invest more than US$103M to modernise key facilities at its US headquarters in Decatur, Illinois, World Grain wrote.
The company’s Decatur facility processes corn and soyabeans into ingredients, fuels and nutrition products for the food, beverage and industrial sectors, and is one of the world’s largest integrated agricultural processing hubs, according to the 23 June report.
As part of the project, critical facilities across Cargill’s west and east soyabean plants would be upgraded, World Grain wrote.
The project would enhance soyabean crushing and refining operations; improve isolate, textured vegetable protein and other protein production lines; and modernise storage elevators.
By replacing more than 40,000 input/output modules and associated control systems, ADM said it would be able to significantly improve equipment monitoring, reduce unplanned downtime, and boost production efficiency.
“Decatur [is] a vital hub that helps connect US farmers with markets and customers around the world,” said Chris Cuddy, president, North America and carbohydrate solutions, ADM.
