US agribusiness cooperative Ag Processing Inc (AGP) has opened its 11th soyabean processing facility and degumming facility in David City, Nebraska.
Scheduled to begin commercial operations by the end of August 2025, the facility would have a processing capacity of over 50M bushels/year of soyabeans and would produce around 700M pounds (317,514 tonnes) of degummed oil/year once fully operational, the company said on 21 July.
AGP said the facility enhanced its existing soyabean processing and refining operations and would improve its ability to compete in domestic and international markets.
“With so many of our existing members in this area, the David City location is not only a great fit with our mission to serve the cooperative system, but it is also a perfect addition to AGP’s existing mid-western processing platform,” AGP board chairman Dean Thernes said.
Encompassing 13.6 miles (22 km) of rail track, the site provided access to two Class I railroads, which AGP said would allow it to load a unit train of 110 cars every three to four days.
Nebraska-headquartered AGP is owned by local and regional cooperatives representing farmer-producers across the USA.
According to AGP’s website, its primary activities include soyabean processing/refining and the production and marketing of soyabean meal, refined soyabean oil and biodiesel. It also produces and markets AminoPlus, a soya bypass protein product for the dairy industry.
The cooperative operates 10 soyabean processing plants in Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, and South Dakota, four soyabean oil refineries and three biodiesel production facilities.
