Soyabean exports in Argentina set a new record in the first quarter of this year, AgriCensus reported from Rosario Grain Exchange (BCR) data on 19 April.

At US$5.02bn, soyabean exports in the period were more than double the US$2.5bn recorded in the same quarter of 2020 and marked the highest quarterly exports total in the country’s history, according to the BCR report.

The value of soyabean meal and pellet exports also almost doubled compared to the same period the previous year, according to BCR, while the value of soyabean oil exports increased by 134% year-on-year.

“In addition to the boost in international prices, a considerable portion of the exports were expected to be shipped in December 2020 but were rescheduled for January and February 2021,” BCR said, with activity delayed by industrial action.

Exports of soyabean complex products totalled 9.06M tonnes in the first quarter of this year, a 34% rise compared with the 6.74M tonnes in the same quarter of 2020, according to the report.
