German chemical and biotech company BASF has completed its acquisition of global agribusiness giant Cargill’s Idaho Falls canola seed production facility.
The acquisition would strengthen BASF’s canola portfolio, which includes seeds and traits, chemical and biological crop protection products, and digital farming tools, the company said on 1 November.
“We are
committed to making investments that improve and expand our operations that
supply growers across North America,” Garth Hodges, BASF’s vice president,
North America Business Management Seeds, said.
The acquisition would also increase the production of InVigor Health hybrids, which produced a speciality oil profile that was more heat stable, with a higher in oleic acid content, the company said.
