Bolivia’s state-owned oil company Yacimientos Petroliferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB) has announced plans to invest US$40M in a second biodiesel plant in El Alto, Biobased Diesel Daily reported.

Due to become operational at the end of next year, the 1,500 barrels/day Heroes de Senkata plant would be built through YPFB, the 7 March report said.

YPFB’s latest proposals followed its announcement last September for Bolivia’s first state-owned biodiesel project, which would be located in Santa Cruz.

The biodiesel projects were part of Bolivia’s 2021-2025 economic and social development plan, which aimed to reduce imports, the report said.
