Soyabean production in Brazil is expected to increase by 13% in 2024/25, according to Brazilian crop agency Conab’s first estimates for the year, reported by World Grain.
Planted area was expected to increase by 2.8% compared to the previous season, the 16 October report said.
However, the percentage of growth in soyabean planted area had slowed this harvest – which recorded the third lowest percentage increase since 2009/10 – due to delayed rainfall holding back soil preparation and planting work, Conab said.
Soyabean exports for 2025 were projected at 105.54M tonnes, based on increased production and global demand, particularly from China. Final stocks were estimated at 4.16M tonnes.
Corn production was estimated at 119.74M tonnes, an increase of 3.5%, while Conab reduced its wheat forecast to 8.26M tonnes in its 15 October report.
Overall, Brazil was expected to produce 322.47M tonnes of grain – an 8.3% increase compared to last season – in 2024/25. If realised, the crop agency said this would be a new record.
Total harvested area was estimated at 81.34 ha, an increase of 1.9%.
