Plant-based lipids producer and supplier Bunge Loders Croklaan (BLC) has agreed a lecithin distribution deal with speciality chemicals and ingredients company IMCD, BLC’s parent company Bunge announced on 3 June.
The agreement would allow IMCD to distribute BLC’s BungeMaxx lecithin portfolio in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK, Bunge said.
“IMCD’s strong position in the European food industry will allow us to service our regional customers in a more agile and flexible way,” said Alan Medina Jr, director for speciality ingredients at BLC Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
Bunge said its BungeMaxx lecithin portfolio comprised plant-based lecithin from soya, rapeseed and sunflower seeds and was available in fluid, de-oiled, and fraction forms, including organic sunflower and soya options.
BungeMaxx was suitable for a range of applications including chocolate confectionery, bakery, nutritional supplements and infant nutrition, Bunge added.
BLC operates as the edible oils business of Bunge and is a leading global producer and supplier of plant-based lipid ingredients for the food manufacturing industry.
Established in 1995, Netherlands-headquartered IMCD is involved in the sales, marketing and distribution of speciality chemicals and ingredients and is active in EMEA, Asia-Pacific and the Americas.
