Agricultural company Corteva has renamed its new seed and genetics unit as the company moves towards splitting into two separate businesses.
First announced in October, Corteva said it would separate its seed and crop protection businesses to sharpen its strategic focus.
In June, Corteva’s crop protection business was renamed New Corteva.
Plans to separate the two businesses remained on track for the fourth quarter of 2026, the company said on 4 May.
Previously known as SpinCo, the seed and genetics business had been rebranded as Vylor, Corteva said.
With more than 4,000 germplasm patents and more than 2,000 biotechnology patents, Vylor’s range includes hybrid wheat, gene editing, multi-disease resistant corn and next-generation biofuels.
The company said it would use its scientific expertise to further strengthen its core business while exploring opportunities to expand to new row crops.
In a separate statement on 12 May, Corteva announced US locations for the headquarters of the two separate companies.
Following the current company’s planned separation, New Corteva would be headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, and Vylor would be headquartered in Johnston, Iowa, Corteva said.
New Corteva would also maintain a Global Corporate Business Center in Wilmington, Delaware.
