High oleic olein oil producer Del Llano Farms has launched a range of seed-oil free French fries in partnership with frozen fries company Frites Street, PR Newswire wrote.

Under the agreement, Frites Street would now exclusively use the seedless oil in the initial preparation of its French fries and also sell Del Llano Farm Seedless oils to its customers to be used for cooking in their commercial kitchens, the 6 June report said.

The agreement makes Frites Street, known for its Belgian style fries, the first national fries manufacturer in the USA to go 100% seed oil free, according to the report.

With farms in Colombia, South America, Del Llano Farms is a leading producer of tropical, seed oil-free, non genetically-modified (GM), Kosher, high oleic olein oil. The company’s oil has been certified by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC).

“Seedless oil is quickly gaining popularity thanks to its health benefits and superior taste with no chemicals and no shortcuts,” Del Llano Farms CEO Roberto Herrera was quoted as saying.

Seed oils – including soyabean, canola, corn, cottonseed, rapeseed, safflower and sunflower oils – have come under increasing public scrutiny in the USA since the appointment of Robert F Kennedy Jr as US Secretary of Health, who has claimed that they cause inflammation and has raised the idea of banning them.
