Engineering and processing plant supplier Desmet Ballestra is set to design state-owned Bolivian oil and gas company Yacimientos Petroliferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB)’s biodiesel and hydrotreated vegetable oil plant (HVO) facility in Bolivia, Biofuels Digest reported.
Involving an estimated investment of US$387M, the 12,000 barrels/day (bpd) project would comprise Biodiesel Plant-1, Biodiesel Plant 2 and a hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) facility, the 12 September report said.
The 1,500 barrels/day (bpd) Biodiesel-1 Plant would be the first to be built at a cost of US$40M, Biofuels Digest wrote. It would include a raw material pre-treatment unit and a biodiesel production unit, comprising more than 131 pieces of equipment, including a nano pre-treatment reactor and three special reactors designed and manufactured by Desmet Ballestra.
In addition to the final design and supply of around 130 pieces of equipment, the contract also involved technical assistance for operator training activities, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up and performance testing, the report said.
According to its website, YPFB is involved in the exploration, exploitation, refining, industrialisation, distribution and commercialisation of oil, natural gas and derived products.
