Leading UK supplier of packaged oils Edible Oils Limited (EOL) has completed the first phase of its £23.6M (US$32.1M) Erith site in London, the company announced on 6 July.
The new 35,000 litres/hour production line will enable EOL to start producing five litre and lightweight bottles, while increasing total production by around 50%.
“The new line will boost production capacity and capabilities, and enhance efficiencies, enabling us to reduce the environmental impact of the Erith site, as well as deliver on our ambitious growth plans,” EOL commercial director Kim Matthews said.
EOL is a 50/50 joint venture between Princes Ltd and Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) and is a leading producer of branded and customer own brand packaged oils for the retail sector.
The hub of EOL’s cooking oil production, the Erith site supplies over 100M litres/year and bottles the Crisp ‘n’ Dry, Flora and Mazola Corn Oil brands.
Erith is integrated with the nearby refinery complex and also packs corn, rapeseed and sunflower oils for customer own brands.
The new line was due to be fully operational this month, EOL said, with the multi-year project set to be complete by the end of November.
