Italian oil and gas company Eni has been exploring biofuel production opportunities in Mozambique, Eni announced on 5 November.

The company said the proposals included the conversion of agricultural waste and oil-producing plants into biofuels at Eni’s biorefineries.

Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi met the president of the Republic of Mozambique Filipe Nyusi on 5 November to discuss the proposals.

The move followed an announcement by Eni in October that it had signed an agreement with the Republic of the Congo on the joint development of the biofuels sector in the country.
