Canadian grain company G3 Canada has announced plans to build a new grain terminal facility at the Port of Trois-Rivières, Quebec.

The project would replace the current facility and improve efficiency, safety and reduce environmental impact, the company said on 25 February.

“This new facility will strengthen our commitment to Quebec producers … while supporting the growth of the region’s grain industry,” G3 CEO Don Chapman said.

Featuring three high-speed receiving lanes, the company said the facility would reduce wait times and increase grain handling capacity.

In collaboration with the port’s recently announced Terminal 16 and 17 project, three new ship loaders would also be installed, G3 said.

The company said it expected the project to be completed ahead of the 2027 planting season.

G3 Canada is part of Canadian grain company G3, which specialises in importing and exporting grains and oilseeds such as soyabeans, canola, wheat and corn.

Headquartered in Winnipeg, Manitoba, G3’s operating companies also include G3 Terminal Vancouver, which operates a grain export terminal on Canada’s West Coast.

According to its website, G3 Canada operates a network of grain elevators in Western Canada and a network of port terminals in Eastern Canada.
