Soyabean processor and biodiesel producer Incobrasa Industries has opened a new crushing plant next to its existing facility in Gilman, Illinois, World Grain wrote.
The new plant – part of a US$250M project – would double the company’s production capacity and had the capacity to process almost 100M bushels/year of soyabeans for use as soyabean meal and oil for the biodiesel and animal feed sectors, the 23 June report said.
“Incobrasa’s new crush plant is the single largest extraction process in the country,” said Kerry Fogarty, quality control manager at Incobrasa. “Requiring 300,000 bushels per day, it will provide a stable market for 7,000 local family farms. By producing oil for biodiesel production and soya protein for animal feed, the process will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and lower the cost of food.”
The company, which is Brazilian-owned and US-operated, produces a range of products including biodiesel, food grade bottled vegetable oil and animal feed.
