Canadian grain company Parrish & Heimbecker (P&H) has acquired a deep-water bulk marine export terminal at the Port of Quebec from Societe En Commandite Terminal Grains.

Located in a key eastern shipping corridor, the acquisition marked a significant step forward in P&H’s ongoing growth and commitment to strengthening Canada’s grain handling and transportation network, the company said on 1 May.

“The addition of a Quebec City terminal is a strong fit for our long-term growth strategy, optimising our logistics and supply chain capabilities across the country,” P&H CEO John Heimbecker said.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

P&H said the acquisition of the terminal, which had been operated by Sollio Agriculture since 2021, also established a new commercial relationship between P&H and QSL International, which offered stevedoring, marine services, logistics and transport throughout North America.

A family-owned agribusiness, P&H’s grain asset network comprises 45 grain elevators, rail sidings, inland terminals and specialised export terminals across Canada.

Commodities handled by the company include canola, corn, feed barley, malt barley, milling wheat, oats and soyabeans, and it also sources grain to supply flour milling and the food, animal nutrition and ethanol industries.

According to Sosland Publishing Co’s 2025 Grain & Milling Annual, P&H is the 67th largest grain handling company in North America and sixth largest in Canada.
