Swiss organic chocolate and food raw materials supplier PRONATEC’s cocoa processing plant in Beringen, Switzerland, has started production, the company announced.

PRONATEC said the cocoa processing plant gained organic and Fairtrade certification in April and had been officially in operation since June producing the company’s full range of products – cocoa mass, cocoa butter and cocoa powder.

Swiss multinational plant equipment manufacturer Bühler supplied equipment for the facility.

Two core elements of the plant – the Tornado nib roaster and a Nova mill - were manufactured by Bühler.

“In our plant, we… produce all three organic cocoa semi-finished products – cocoa mass, butter and powder. It is very important that we can maintain proven flavour profiles that we have developed over the years. The new roaster also gives us the opportunity to develop new products,” PRONATEC CEO and owner David Yersin said.

Winterthur-headquartered PRONATEC distributes fair-trade and sustainably produced products for the global food industry and its range includes cocoa beans, semi-finished cocoa products, couverture, chocolate, sugar, vanilla and spices.
