Marine bunker facility Service Terminal Rotterdam (STR) is launching a project focused on biofuels storage in Rotterdam.

STR is a multipurpose bunker fuel terminal based in the Botlek area of the Port of Rotterdam. Its jetties are suitable for a range of vessel sizes and barges, and the facility has the flexibility to handle a range of fuel oil grades, as well as bio-blending.

Project GreenSTR would be tailored for the storage and blending of marine fuels, STR said in a 23 June LinkedIn post.

The project would include new tankage, comprising approximately 100,000m³ of storage tanks to handle a range of products including biodiesel and ethanol, and would be constructed on a vacant plot of land next to STR’s current terminal, the company said.
