Thai renewable energy and electric vehicle developer Energy Absolute is conducting research to convert palm oil-based biodiesel into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), the Bangkok Post wrote.
The company aimed to develop a biofuel that could replace fossil-derived fuel, meeting jet A-1 qualifications, EA’s senior vice-president for strategy development and investment planning Vasu Klomkliang was quoted as saying in the 6 December report.
EA currently produced 800,000 litres/day of palm oil-derived methyl ester, which was blended with diesel to produce biodiesel, the report said.
The company also produces value-added products such as refined glycerine, a feedstock that can be used to make cosmetics and personal care products, and phase change materials (PCM), which can be used as thermal barrier coating materials.
