Construction engineering company Thyssenkrupp Uhde Thailand has been awarded a contract for an esterification plant by a leading oleochemical and speciality chemical producer in Asia, the company announced on 12 January.
Due for completion this year, the plant will use Thyssenkrupp Uhde’s proprietary Jet Reactor technology, according to the 12 January statement.
The main products produced at the plant, for an unnamed client, would be medium chain triglycerides (MCTs) for use in the food and personal care industries, the company said.
Thyssenkrupp Uhde’s Thailand branch offers technical services in the field of esterification and has its own laboratory and pilot plant facility.
The company’s jet reactor is an advanced batch reactor with liquid and gas circulation loops that ensure intimate contact and improved interfacial area between reactants/catalyst (in gas, liquid or solid state) and stripping agents.
To date, the jet reactor was in operation in more than 50 plants worldwide and could be supplied in a fully modularised format, the company said.
The company’s portfolio includes leading technologies for the production of basic chemicals, fertilisers and polymers as well as complete value-chains for green hydrogen and sustainable chemicals.
