United Arab Emirates-based global agribusiness Al Dahra has formed a partnership with Getreide AG Ukraine to source Ukrainian grain and oilseeds, World Grain wrote, citing a Khaleej Times report.
As part of the agreement, Al Dahra will source 100,000-150,000 tonnes of agricultural commodities in Ukraine, with plans to scale operations to more than 500,000 tonnes, according to the 22 May report.
Operations were expected to be completed before the start of Ukraine’s new crop season in July, the report said.
Al Dahra said the partnership would complement its operations in Serbia, Romania, Egypt and the USA while securing supply for its customers across the Middle East and Africa.
“Our exclusive relationship with Getreide AG Ukraine positions us strategically in one of the world’s most vital agricultural regions,” Al Dahra group CEO Arnoud van den Berg was quoted as saying.
Al Dahra’s activities include grains farming, trading and processing. The company has farming and sourcing capabilities across the Black Sea Region comprising wheat, barley, soyabeans, sunflowers and corn from its trading hub in Constanta, Romania.
The company has 16 processing facilities across the world and it sources from more than 20 countries with a total capacity of 6M tonnes/year, according to its website.
Getreide AG Ukraine is a subsidiary of Getreide AG, a German company with operations in rapeseed oil, malt and food that serve markets in 62 countries. Getreide AG Ukraine exports rapeseed and other crops to processing plants in Germany for use in the production of oil, meal and malt.
According to a UkroAgroConsult report last October, Getreide AG Ukraine buys rapeseed from Ukrainian producers and exports it to its processing plant in Rostock, northeastern Germany.
