Sunflower oil exports in the first four months of the 2022/23 marketing year (September-December) from Ukraine fell by 14% but shipments of refined sunflower oil increased by 2.6%, UkrAgroConsult reported.

“In the 2022/23 season, the export of refined sunflower oil kept rising compared to that of crude sunflower oil,” the 9 February report said.

This season’s average monthly shipments of refined sunflower oil were slightly higher than in the 2021/22 marketing year (September-August), UkrAgroConsult wrote.

The European Union accounted for 45% of Ukraine’s sunflower oil exports in the 2021/22 marketing year and rose to 53% in the first four months of the 2022/23 season.

Other leading destinations for Ukraine exports included Jordan, Malaysia and Turkey.

The forecast for refined sunflower oil exports in the 2022/23 marketing year remains optimistic, according to the report.

UkrAgroConsult forecast exports of refined sunflower oil at above 40,000 tonnes/month, which would bring the country’s export of refined sunflower oil to at least 500,000 tonnes in 2022/23.
