Global speciality additive producer Valtris Specialty Chemicals has completed the sale of its Champlor Renewables business in Baleycourt, France, to Avril Industrie.

Located in one of France’s main rapeseed growing regions, Champlor Renewables specialised in rapeseed crushing, refining and biodiesel production and processed approximately 400,000 tonnes/year of seeds, Avril said on 2 February.

“The closing represents a key milestone in our efforts to focus on the core of our portfolio as a global leader in speciality performance additives. This divestiture simplifies our portfolio and operations, and strengthens our ability to continue to invest in growth,” said Mike McGaugh, CEO of Valtris Specialty Chemicals.

Valtris said it would continue to own and operate its speciality additives business co-located at the Baleycourt site.

Headquartered in Independence, Ohio, Valtris operates seven manufacturing locations and develops products for polymer end-use applications in the coatings, adhesives and sealants, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas, lubricant, and personal care industries.
